Flower Essence Therapy

“The goal of flower essence therapy is that we become responsible for our soul life. By developing ever greater positivity and self-awareness, we deepen our capacity for human love.”
– Patricia Kaminski
What are Flower Essences?
Flower essences are liquid extracts prepared usually from a sun infusion of pristine flowers in its own unique habitat where it grows naturally. Essences can be combined to create formulas taken orally, as unique as the individual is taking it. Flower essences invoke a sympathetic resonance in our subtle bodies which vibrates throughout our whole being, catalyzing our capacities for healing, growth, and transformation on all levels of mind, body, and spirit.
The Benefits
Greater positivity and self-awareness are the key benefits of flower essence therapy; which helps us to live our lives with more ease and grace and possibility. It is especially helpful during the thresholds of our lives, times of transition often catalyzed by life changes or challenges in health, love, or work.

Working with a Practitioner
We start with what is in our heart, what needs to be expressed and heard, our dreams and our distress both. All is welcome. As Dr. Bach said, “To find the herb that will help us we must find the object of our life, what we are striving to do and also understand the difficulties in our path.”
There is a simplicity in flower essence therapy that I trust. Simple doesn’t mean easy. It can be difficult to see ourselves objectively, with warmth and compassion. We learn from seeing our patterns of conditioning and how we respond to the stress of our circumstances. We become informed about the trauma we have experienced and how to support our body-mind in resolving it. We discover where we get stuck and what holds us back from realizing our goals, dreams, and visions for ourselves. We encounter our inner resistance and we may feel worse before we feel better.
Working with a practitioner provides the guidance and encouragement to feel safe and keep going. Learning to connect with the flowers and trees as healing allies is a practice and a process, which I am inspired to share out of a deep respect and love for the divinity in nature and in ourselves.

- Flower essence therapy is a complete healing modality in itself. It is a kindred spirit of homeopathy and herbalism. It also is a complimentary plant medicine which works well with other alternative healing approaches including Spiritual Direction, Acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and Reiki. Flower essence therapy compliments traditional medical approaches as well, including psychiatry and psychotherapy, but does not replace these treatments for those individuals who benefit from them.
- The course of working with flower essences varies according to the individual and the situation. Some relief and benefits may be felt immediately. Long term change happens more slowly over time. Typically, a combination formula is taken over a four week period.
- Because flower essences do not directly impact the body’s physiology, they can be taken with any supplements or medications without complications or interfering.
- Flower essence therapy is supported by a practice of contemplation, such as meditation and prayer; self-reflection such as journaling and dream work; self-expression such as drawing and painting; and/or movement such as dancing, yoga, or Qigong; and self-knowledge such as the Enneagram, Astrology, and Tarot.
